RANKIN COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI


Rankin County is a county that is receiving growth from Jacksons growing population. The County operates the Public Schools. 
Their facilities are excellent and their have excellent ratings.
The largest city is Brandon, which includes the eastern
shore of the Reservoir.  The other cities are; Flowood which
has been the site of three shopping centers recently opening at
the intersection of Highway 25, Lakeland Drive and Fannin Rd.   Pearl, the home of the new Atlanta Braves AA franchise at Trustmark Park, and in the same development, the Bass Pro
Shop has its only store in our Metro area.   Richland and Florence are also an easy drive from Jackson.
   The New Mississippi, where the living is easy,
the pace is slow,
 and the people are FRIENDLY

Brandon is the largest city in Rankin County and the population was 16,436 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Rankin County. Brandon native Mary Ann Mobley was Miss America in 1959 and she went on to an acting career.
 
The Ross Barnett Reservoir is a part of Rankin County and it provides fun and entertainment to the county for fishing, boating and beautiful views.
