History of Raymond
The city of Raymond came to be in 1829, when President Jackson appointed three commissioners to find a location for the the county seat of Hinds County. Raymond was chosen because of its location, away from flooding. In 1830, Raymond was chartered and quickly prospered into a small town.
In 1859, Raymond real estate saw the construction of the town's first courthouse. A water tower was built in the center of town in 1903. Both the water tower and courthouse remain signatures of Raymond's identity. The town's first high school opened in 1917, which is now the Hinds Community College, one of the most prominent community colleges in Mississippi.

Raymond schools are served by the Hinds County School District. There is one elementary school, one middle school and one high school in Raymond real estate. All Raymond schools offer after school programs, clubs and sports activities.
